How safe is the Anigmo Dimmer?

Provided the dimmer is installed correctly (See installation sheet) the dimmer is 100% safe. Field tested in a variety of environments since 2001 and the dimmer is quick to install, easy to operate, and safe to use. And, thanks to air-gap interface technology, power to the unit is automatically cut off when the decorative wall plate is removed. Anigmo supports the dimmer with a full five year warranty.

How does the Touchless technology replace a wall switch?

With a range about the size of a tennis ball a copper clad printed circuit board in the control unit acts as an antenna. When an object with sufficient mass/dielectric constant (user’s hand or similar sized object) enters the field of detection, capacitive sensors turns the lights either on or off. Holding a hand-sized object near the unit initiates a dimming cycle that is repeated until the object is removed, but will stop after 3 full cycles.

How sensitive is the Anigmo Dimmer?

Only objects about an inch from the decorator wall plate and about the size of a hand will activate the dimmer. As a result a fly landing on the decorator wall plate will not trigger the dimmer.

Can false triggers happen?

Highly unlikely. The dimmer has been designed to accommodate power surges and prevent false triggers. However, installation of the Dimmer near strong electro-magnetic devices such as electrical welding machines, inadequately shielded power supplies, and radar could cause inadvertent Dimmer activity.

Can a person accidentally set off the Anigmo Dimmer?

Not likely. It could only happen, for example, in a very narrow hallway provided the individual passes within one inch of the switch.

Can a home-owner install the Anigmo Dimmer?

Absolutely. While we recommend an electrician install the Dimmer, The Anigmo Touchless Dimmer is quick and simple to install. There is no new wiring and the control unit fits right in where the previous switch was located. No special tools required. Just disconnect the power and join the color-coded wires. Please see the Installation sheets for details.

Can I design my own decorative switch plate?

You can either do it yourself or have your design professional create your original decorator switch plate. Since the switch mechanisms are completely hidden, the decorative switch plate is the only part that you see. Use stone, wood, rubber, glass or ceramic up to 3/4 inch thick as the medium. Your new decorative switch plate attaches snuggly to the Dimmer control unit using our proprietary adapter. Any house adhesive will affix the adapter to your switch plate.

How do I install the decorative switch plate?

Make sure the slide switch on the control unit is in the off (Up) position and that the arrows on the decorative switch plate adapter are facing up. Push the decorative switch plate against the control unit face plate until it snaps and then slide down (approximately 1/2 inch). Move your hand away from the switch plate for about 10 seconds. To deactivate Dimmer simply slide the decorative switch plate up. Removing the decorative switch plate turns the power to the unit off.

Can I use the Anigmo Dimmer without a Decorative switch plate?

Yes. Just turn the power on with the slider switch on control unit’s face plate and use it the same way as with the Decorative switch plate attached.

Will the Anigmo Dimmer work with fluorescent, CFL and LED lights?

The ST2-600LVE model is designed as universal dimmer, it can work directly with LED bulbs. However, please note that for fluorescent lights you need to have a dimmable ballast, and as with CFL you need a dimmable CFL bulbs.

Does this Dimmer operate a multi-location switch?

Multi-location switches control lights from at least two different places such as at the top and bottom of stairs. All models can be installed in multi-location configuration supporting up to 5 remote slave units (Model Anigmo ST2-S). Dimming is performed from any location. Note: All our dimmers are Single gang installation only (single wall switches).
